Kelvin Hill: The Updated Stroke Clinical Care Standard Is Out Now
Kelvin Hill, Executive Director at Stroke Foundation, reposted from Stroke Foundation on LinkedIn:
”It is great to see the updated stroke standard with a greater focus on comprehensive care and follow up.
Thanks to the Commission and steering group to manage this update and reflect the journey of those recovering from stroke, updated evidence aligned to the Living Stroke Guidelines and national Frameworks for acute and rehabilitation stroke care.”
Quoting Stroke Foundation‘s post:
”Stroke Foundation welcomes the release of the updated Stroke Clinical Care Standard by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
This document is a vital resource for ensuring every survivor of stroke receives the best evidence-based assessment, management, individualised care planning and follow-up supports during and after stroke.
The 2026 edition marks the first update to the acute stroke clinical care standard since 2019, and strengthens the focus on rehabilitation, individualised care planning and follow-up care after hospital discharge – recognising that stroke recovery does not end when a person leaves hospital.
Stroke Foundation congratulates the Commission and its partners, including the Australian Stroke Clinical Registry and the Australian Stroke Coalition, on the collaborative development of the Standard.
We call on all health services across Australia to embed the updated Standard in practice, so that every survivor of stroke around Australia can access gold-standard stroke care from the ambulance to the hospital and back into the community.
For more information and to download the updated Stroke Clinical Care Standard and related resources, please visit the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care website.”
