Abdulillah R. Khamess: Bilateral DVT Following Uncomplicated Open Appendectomy
Abdulillah R. Khamess, MBBCH of Al-Nahrain University/College of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Medical Case Reports, adding:
“Proud to share our latest publication in the Journal of Medical Case Reports:
‘Extensive Bilateral Lower Limb Deep Vein Thrombosis Following Uncomplicated Open Appendectomy in a Young Healthy Male: A Case Report’
This case describes a rare and unexpected occurrence of extensive bilateral deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in a 26-year-old healthy male shortly after an uncomplicated open appendectomy.
Despite the absence of traditional thromboembolic risk factors, the patient developed extensive lower-limb venous thrombosis, highlighting the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion even after low-complexity surgical procedures.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all co-authors and collaborators whose dedication made this work possible.”
