How Sickle Hemoglobin Fuels Thrombosis and Vascular Injury – JTH
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Jintao Wang et al, published in Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, adding:
“Sickle hemoglobin promotes venous thrombosis through procoagulant activity and is targetable by hemoglobinase therapy
In sickle cell disease mice, sickle hemoglobin shortens clotting time and drives venous thrombosis, while hemoglobinase (plasmepsin I) therapy reduces free hemoglobin and thrombus size.”
