Sana Helani: Challenging Common Assumptions in Anemia Management

“Every patient deserves a diagnosis based on evidence, not assumptions.
This was one of the key messages from a hematology lecture I had the opportunity to co-present on May 12 as part of Clinical Cases Presenting Project, under the supervision of Dr. Salam Al-nahar with Alphabet Volunteer Team and sponsored by Asia Pharmaceutical Industries.
During the session we discussed Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) and highlighted one of the most widespread mistakes in everyday clinical practice: prescribing iron supplements to young women presenting with anemia without investigating the underlying cause.”
