Mohammad Khalil: Evaluating DAPT Duration after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Mohammad Khalil, Bachelor of Medicine at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Cureus Journal of Medical Science, adding:
“I am pleased to share the publication of my latest research article in Cureus Journal of Medical Science:
Short- Versus Standard-Duration Dual Antiplatelet Therapy After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
This publication marks my first as the lead (first) author, representing a significant milestone in my academic and research journey.
In this systematic review and meta-analysis of 23,586 patients across seven randomized controlled trials, we evaluated the safety and efficacy of abbreviated dual antiplatelet therapy following PCI in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Our findings demonstrate that shorter-duration DAPT significantly reduces major bleeding without increasing overall major adverse cardiovascular events, while highlighting the importance of selecting an appropriate P2Y12 inhibitor for maintaining ischemic safety.”
