Deep Madkaiker: Advanced HSCT Collections and CAR-T Readiness at ACTREC
Deep Madkaiker, Assistant Professor in Transfusion Medicine at Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today was a busy day in the Department of Transfusion Medicine at Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer(ACTREC) with Dr. Suryatapa Saha.
Our resident doctors, Dr. Bhagyashri Surve, Dr. Pallavi Singh and Dr Aditi Khanna led the forefront of 2 HSCT collections and a cryopreservation.
One haploidentical HSCT collection was particularly crucial, as it was followed by a CD45RA depletion, which removes naive T cells and enriches memory T cells.
This process can help preserve anti-infective immunity while reducing alloreactivity and GVHD risk after transplant.
Further, this was also followed by a dry run of a commercial CAR-T demonstration to be implemented in the near future!
We are grateful to the Department of Medical Oncology at Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer(ACTREC) for collaborating with us and providing our resident doctors with such valuable exposure in the nascent field of cellular therapy.”
