Maria Khan Junaidi: How Age Influences Intracerebral Hemorrhage Outcomes

Maria Khan Junaidi, Deputy Program Director Vascular Neurology at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in European Stroke Journal, adding:

“Pleased to share our latest publication in the European Stroke Journal.

Clinical characteristics and outcomes of intracerebral haemorrhage in young vs. older adults: Insights from the INTERACT3 trial.

In this secondary analysis of 7,031 patients across 10 countries, we found that although younger adults (լess than or equal to 50 years) with ICH often had larger haematomas and a distinct vascular risk profile, they experienced significantly better 6-month outcomes and appeared to derive greater benefit from bundled acute ICH care.

These findings reinforce the importance of early, protocol-driven management while highlighting the need for targeted prevention strategies in younger patients with ICH.

Grateful to all collaborators and the INTERACT3 investigators for making this work possible.”
