Celebrationg The 30 Years Anniversary as The Voice of Stroke in Australia – Stroke Foundation

Stroke Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:

”We were at Parliament House in Canberra to celebrate Stroke Foundation 30 years anniversary as the voice of stroke in Australia.

Since 1996, Stroke Foundation has grown from a small research organisation to a national leader in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery – as well as supporting and championing the voice of a community of more than 440,000 survivors of stroke, caregivers, families and allies.

Across three decades we’ve grown stronger together; survivors, carers, family members and friends, researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and supporters working in unity to strengthen impact and advocacy.

We were grateful to celebrate this milestone with members of the lived experience community, clinicians, researchers, donors, supporters, sector partners, and members of parliament in the room.

Special thanks to Simon Kennedy MP (Co-Chair of Parliamentary Friends Group for Stroke Foundation and Heart Foundation) and Alice Jordan-Baird MP to delivering insightful remarks, as well as Prof Michael Kidd AO (Chief Medical Officer), Dr Gordon Reid MP, and our Ambassador Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Lynne Cosgrove for your ongoing support.

Special mention of gratitude to Adrian O’Malley for speaking and sharing his personal stroke story, highlighting the long road for advocacy and change; as well as Joe Miller, Brenda Booth OAM, Gus Sabatino and many of our inspiring and tireless community champions – for helping guide our purpose and work every day!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story!

Together, we’ve made a difference in the lives of countless Australians affected by stroke, and we’re just getting started.”
