Roshni Kulkarni: Study Underscores the Urgent Need to Prevent Postpartum Hemorrhage Deaths
Roshni Kulkarni, Professor at Michigan State University, shared University of Oxford’s post on LinkedIn:
“I lost my paternal aunt to PPH.
She died in a remote village in India.
Her name was ‘Tara’ meaning ‘star.’
We don’t know what happened to the baby.
Tara remains my shining star and has inspired me in my career and passion for advocating for women and girls with bleeding disorders.
Childbirth is a joyous occasion, no woman should die.
No child should lose their mother.”
University of Oxford shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New: Every 12 minutes, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from excessive bleeding after birth (postpartum hemorrhage or PPH).
Yet according to a new study, led by researchers from Oxford, most of these deaths should never have happened.”
