Ahmadou Ouedraogo: Do You Know Your Blood Type?
Ahmadou Ouedraogo, Founder of AetherTrack, Manager at Mount Sinai Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Do you know your blood type?
Most people don’t think about it until they need it.
But in a medical emergency, those few letters and symbols can make the difference between life and death.
Not all blood types are compatible.
Some can donate to a wide range of patients, while others can only be given to specific groups.
That’s why certain blood types are especially valuable in hospitals.
For example, O negative is often called the universal donor because it can be used in emergencies when there isn’t enough time to determine a patient’s blood type.
On the other hand, AB positive is known as the universal recipient because it can receive blood from any group.
Behind every successful surgery, trauma response and emergency treatment is a supply chain most people never see:
Blood donors.
A single donation can help multiple patients and support everything from accident victims to cancer treatments and major operations.
It’s one of the few situations where a simple act from a stranger can directly save a life.
So here’s a question worth asking:
Do you know your blood type?
Because one day, that small piece of information could matter more than you think.”
