Carolyn Lam: TCTMD Expert Discussion Series on the Future of Anticoagulation

Carolyn Lam, Deputy Editor of the Journal of the Americal College of Cardiology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Anticoagulation has come a long way.

And yet too many patients with atrial fibrillation still go untreated for stroke prevention. Too many clinicians hesitate because of bleeding risk. And too many patients pay the price.

I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Hooman Kamel for a TCTMD expert discussion series on exactly this, the gaps that persist in thrombotic care despite decades of progress, and why FXI and FXIa inhibition is generating so much excitement as a potential way forward.

Across four videos we cover:

  • The evolving anticoagulation landscape and the unmet needs that remain. The biological rationale for targeting FXI/FXIa and what the emerging evidence tells us. How clinicians navigate benefit-risk decisions in the real world. And what adoption of these therapies might look like in practice.
  • The promise of FXI/FXIa inhibition is the possibility of uncoupling thrombosis prevention from bleeding risk. That would be a genuine shift in how we protect patients. We are not there yet, but the science is moving fast and the conversations we need to be having are happening now.

This is a conversation I genuinely enjoyed having. I think you will too.”Carolyn Lam: TCTMD Expert Discussion Series on the Future of Anticoagulation
