Mohd Laraib: The Importance of Multidisciplinary Collaboration in the Management of CAPS
Mohd Laraib, Post Graduate Resident at Government Insitute of Medical Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Cureus Journal of Medical Science, adding:
“Excited to Share Our Latest Publication!
I am delighted to share that our clinical case report has been published in Cureus.
Title: ‘A Thrombotic Cascade Beyond Control: Lupus Anticoagulant-Positive Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome With Multiorgan Microvascular Failure’
This case describes a patient with catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) presenting as rapidly progressive multiorgan microvascular thrombosis, posing a significant diagnostic challenge.
The case emphasizes the importance of:
- Maintaining a high index of suspicion for CAPS in patients with acute multiorgan ischemia.
- Integrating clinical, serological, radiological, and histopathological findings for timely diagnosis.
- Recognizing that early therapeutic decision-making is often crucial, as waiting for complete confirmatory investigations may delay life-saving treatment.
This publication was a valuable learning experience and underscores the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in managing complex autoimmune thrombotic disorders.
I sincerely thank my co-authors, mentors, and colleagues for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this work.
Congratulations to the entire team!”
