Michelle Cha: The Evolving Role of Nurse Coordinators in Hemophilia Gene Therapy
Michelle Cha, Hemophilia Treatment Center Nurse at Georgetown University, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she authored, published in Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing, adding
“I’m excited to share that my manuscript has been published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing Cellular Therapy Supplement.
In the article, I explore the evolving role of the nurse coordinator in preparing patients for gene therapy, providing education, coordinating interdisciplinary care, and supporting patients through both the short- and long-term follow-up that these treatments require.
As gene therapy offers new options in hemophilia care, I hope this work highlights the essential role nurses play as educators, advocates, and care coordinators in helping patients navigate this complex treatment journey.
This was a rewarding opportunity to reflect on the work our teams do every day and contribute to the growing conversation around implementing gene therapy in clinical practice.
