Paolo Zamboni: Treating Post-Thrombotic Syndrome by Eliminating Venous Reflux

Paolo Zamboni, Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital of Ferrara, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Endovascular Therapy, adding:

“Reflux in the deep veins is a real surgical challenge and, consequently, post-thrombotic syndrome is still poorly treated by vascular surgeons.

However, the DUS identification of venous shunts allows their precise endovascular interruption leading to reflux elimination, but maintaining the draining pathways.

Such a new technique offers a chance of effective treatment to a significant proportion of vascular disabled patients.”
