Giuseppe Leone: Potential Causal Relationship between H. pylori and ITP

Giuseppe Leone, Editor in Chief on Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Yuzhan Chen, published in Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, adding:

“Observational studies have suggested a potential causal relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

However, the evidence for causal inference remains contentious, and the underlying mechanisms require further investigation.

A Chinese group from Ningbo University conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to assess this relationship, which is freely available online in the MJHID.”
