”Last week, I published ‘Beyond the Red Crisis: American Red Cross Declares Second-Ever National Blood Supply Crisis in Less Than Five Years.’ –
My goal was to provide an overview of the ongoing U.S. blood shortage and advocate for a unified strategy – one that doesn’t rely solely on donors and blood banks, but also leverages existing strategies to avoid and reduce unnecessary blood transfusions and blood product use.
In the article, I outlined three key pillars for reducing transfusion and donor reliance:
- Clinical and Medical Programs
- Advanced Pharmaceuticals
- Medical Devices and Technology
Beyond patient care, addressing blood scarcity presents a significant economic opportunity.
