Recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Asia Pacific HLA Lab Directors Conclave, organized by Werfen, in Hanoi, Vietnam.
It was truly a golden opportunity to interact with experts and HLA laboratory leaders from different countries across the Asia-Pacific region – sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and understanding the best practices being followed in transplant immunology and histocompatibility laboratories across the region.
It was a great platform to deliver a talk on ‘Incorporating Single Antigen Bead Assay into Routine Transplant Testing’ and also learn how different centres approach HLA antibody testing in their clinical practice.
One of the biggest takeaways was realizing that while our laboratories may be separated by borders, many of our challenges, aspirations, and goals are remarkably similar – ultimately striving towards better laboratory practices and better outcomes for transplant patients.
And the learning wasn’t limited to the conference hall!
Vietnam offered an equally memorable experience through its rich history, vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and incredible food.
