Harish Chowdary Gorrepati: The HALT Paradox After TAV

Harish Chowdary Gorrepati, Interventional Cardiologist at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, Fellow at Heart Center UMC, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“NOTION-4 Trial | TAVR and Antithrombotic Therapy.

Short-term DOAC after TAVR significantly reduced HALT at 3 months (31.8 percent – 12.1 percent), but this benefit was not sustained at 12 months (32.2 percent versus 28.3 percent; P=0.54).

Importantly, bleeding/clinical events were numerically higher with the DOAC strategy.

Key message: Reducing leaflet thrombosis on CT does not necessarily translate into better clinical outcomes.

SAPT remains the preferred strategy for patients without another indication for oral anticoagulation.”
