Brandi Littles Kelly: Raising ITP Awareness Through a Family’s Journey

Brandi Littles Kelly, Vice President of Client Experience and Strategic Partnerships at Health Delegates, LLC, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“September is ITP Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to this rare autoimmune disorder that lowers platelet levels and can increase the risk of serious bleeding.

This month, I’m wearing purple for everyone living with ITP, especially my son, Brody.

Our journey started with unexplained bruising that led to his diagnosis of chronic ITP.

Brody is now 14 and has been living with the condition for almost half his life.

It hasn’t always been easy, and every stage of life has brought new challenges and considerations.

We now navigate milestones like football and getting his learner’s permit.

Those experiences bring excitement, but also thoughtful discussions about safety and risk.

Along the way, we’ve learned the importance of educating both Brody and those around him about ITP.

Most 14-year-old boys aren’t talking about platelet counts or pointing out petechiae, but those conversations have become a normal part of life for him.

Through it all, Brody has shown incredible resilience.

Thanks to the right treatment, care, and support, he’s still able to pursue the things he loves.

We share our story because awareness matters.

The more people understand ITP, the more encouragement there is for the individuals and families living with it every day.”
