Assumpta Chiamaka Osumune: Research Meets Community Care in the Fight Against Malaria and Anemia
Assumpta Chiamaka Osumune, Field Research Assistant at MobiCare360, Mentee at Codeant Technology Hub, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As a Research Assistant, I’m part of a study focused on Malaria and Anemia in Pregnancy, two of the leading causes of maternal and newborn health challenges in Nigeria.
Today at our community outreach, we conducted basic health screenings and educated pregnant women on prevention, early detection, and nutrition. Moments like this remind me that research isn’t just about numbers. It’s about lives.
Malaria in pregnancy increases the risk of anemia, low birth weight, and other complications. Through data collection, and community education, we’re working to understand the burden and evidence-based solutions for better maternal outcomes.
We screened, we listened, we educated. Because preventing malaria and anemia during pregnancy saves two lives at once.
Proud to contribute to research that combines evidence with community care
To the mothers, health workers, and researchers fighting for safer pregnancies: we see you.
Let’s keep pushing for healthier pregnancies across Nigeria.”
