Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder. It can cause easy bruising, frequent or prolonged nosebleeds, and heavy menstrual bleeding symptoms that some patients may experience for years before receiving a diagnosis.
Because VWD varies in type and severity, identifying the underlying cause can help physicians better understand the condition and guide patient care.
Genetic testing can support diagnosis and help clarify the subtype, providing patients and families with greater insight into their condition.”
