Claudio Mauro: The Protective Role of Hyodeoxycholic Acid in Liver Cancer

Claudio Mauro, Professor of Metabolism and Inflammation at University of Birmingham, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Molecular Biomedicine, adding:

“One of the greatest opportunities in academia is to contribute to form the next generation of scientists.

Four of my former PhD students and postdocs are now junior PIs.

Today a new paper co-authored with one of them, Kenneth Cheung (Hong Kong Baptist University), has come out and makes me very proud.

In it, we show an epigenetic/metabolic mechanism of hyodeoxycholic acid-mediated protection from hepatocellular carcinoma.”

Title: HDCA suppresses exosomal lncRNA MSTRG171708 release to inhibit Treg-mediated immunometabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma

Authors: Feng Yang, Wenqiong Huang, Chongkai Fang, Chong Zhong, Chaoyuan Huang, Meijun Liu, Zongzhen Meng, Xiaoli Chen, Claudio Mauro, Aiping Lyu, Kenneth C. P. Cheung
