Eugenia Gianos: ACC CVPrevention Council’s New Statin Resources
Eugenia Gianos, Professor at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“For most patient visits I have, I spend 2-3 minutes reviewing the facts about statin therapy.
Why is that?
The truth is that distilling the facts about statins can be challenging for patients and clinicians alike, but we have great data to support their safety and efficacy.
To help ‘Set the Record Straight on Statins’, our American College of Cardiology CVPrevention Council Cardiosmart teams created the following valuable resources:
- A simple, comprehensive patient educational hand-out available on Cardiosmart to be shared in your office
- More extensive information for patients who ask for the data behind this key preventive therapy available with a QR code on the hand-out and on Cardiosmart as ‘QA with Heart Experts: Statins’.
- Short videos highlighting the facts myths (soon to be released on social media Cardiosmart).
Thanks to Dr. Ashley Waring for leading the effort and our CVPrevention Council team for contributing- Romit Bhattacharya, Karen Aspry, Dr. Vijay Nambi Dr. Nishant Shah Chloe Villavaso.
Thanks to the awesome Cardiosmart team Viet Le, HF-Cert Michelle Poblete for their hard work and collaboration.
We hope these resources will be valuable to patients and providers alike!
Happy Cholesterol Awareness month!”
