The Real-World Burden Of DVT In Traumatic Fractures – ISTH
International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Hongjian Zeng et al., published in RPTH, adding:
”Approximately 1 in 8 hospitalized patients with traumatic fractures had DVT detected during their hospital stay.
A new real-world study in RPTH Journal examines the burden of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), thromboprophylaxis practices and guideline adherence among 13,990 patients hospitalized with traumatic fractures.
The findings point to an important gap between recommended VTE prevention and real-world practice and reinforce the need for effective risk assessment and implementation of guideline-based thromboprophylaxis in patients with traumatic fractures.”
