Anita Brikman: Inside the Plasma Donation Journey

Anita Brikman, Chief Executive Officer at Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This week, I had the opportunity to experience the plasma donation journey firsthand during a visit to a BioLife Plasma Services donation center.

What made the experience particularly meaningful was the chance to meet other donors and hear what inspired them to donate.

Each person had their own story, but they shared a common understanding that their donation could help someone they may never meet.

It was a powerful reminder that the plasma journey starts with people willing to make a difference.

I would like to thank Karine Stephens, Global Head of BioLife Plasma Services for joining me, and Hema Tallman, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Commercial Plasma Portfolio for helping make the visit possible.

I extend my appreciation to the entire team.

It was inspiring to see how donors are truly at the heart of their mission, and to see that commitment reflected throughout the center, from the warm welcome to the focus on creating a positive and friendly experience for me.

I left with an even deeper appreciation for the many people who make the plasma ecosystem possible, from the donors to the teams at the plasma donation centers who care for them with professionalism every step of the way.

Plasma cannot be manufactured, and every donation represents an opportunity to help provide life-changing medicines to patients with rare and serious conditions.

As we look ahead to International Plasma Awareness Week (IPAW 2026), this visit was a timely reminder of why raising awareness matters: Plasma powers possibility, and that possibility begins with every donor who chooses to give.

I hope this post inspires someone reading this to consider plasma donation.”
