A newly published study in Vox Sanguinis brings valuable insights into two key factors:
- How haematocrit is measured
- How additive solutions influence red blood cell preservation during storage
The results demonstrate that PAGGSM better preserves red blood cell morphology and reduces storage-induced micro-erythrocytes compared with SAGM.
For us, this publication is also a reminder that innovation in transfusion medicine is about the entire process, not just a single product.
