Syed Huzaifa Khan: Rethinking CTRP12 as a Biomarker for In Stent Restenosis
Syed Huzaifa Khan, MBBS at Nowshera Medical College, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Clinical Cardiology, adding:
“Glad to share our recent publication.
‘Methodological Considerations in Evaluating CTRP12 as a Biomarker for In-Stent Restenosis’.
The paper highlights important considerations including potential selection/verification bias, lack of multivariable adjustment, and the possibility that early post-PCI CTRP12 levels may reflect acute vascular injury and inflammatory activation rather than processes specifically associated with subsequent restenosis.
The authors also discuss the need for appropriate adjustment of clinical and procedural factors and external validation before CTRP12 can be interpreted as an independent biomarker for in-stent restenosis.”
