Konstantin Yenkoyan: CAR-T, GLP-1 or Orexin – Who Will Take the 2026 Nobel?
Konstantin Yenkoyan, Scientist in Chief at Cobrain Center, Vice Rector for science at Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We Will Know In a Couple of Hours – Can the Public Predict the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine?
During European Researchers’ Night in Armenia (ERNA) 2026, our Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) team organized a public vote around a fascinating question: Which scientific breakthrough could be the next to receive the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine?
Visitors were introduced to five major scientific directions and invited to make their choice amp; the public voted:
- CAR-T cell therapy – 20 votes
- Adhesion receptors – 10 votes
- Orexin amp; sleep medicine – 7 votes
- Optical coherence tomography (OCT) – 6 votes
- GLP-1 amp; metabolic medicine – 5 votes
Of course, this was not about predicting the confidential deliberations of the Nobel Assembly.
It was about bringing frontier biomedical science into public discussion and asking a broader question: Which discoveries have truly transformed our understanding of biology and medicine – and which may ultimately deserve science’s most recognized distinction?
Today, 5 October, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet will announce the 2026 The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine at 11:30 CEST at the earliest – 13:30 Yerevan time.
Will the ERNA public have chosen the winning scientific direction?
We Will Know Today.”
