Preventing Hospital Associated Venous Thromboembolism – Thrombosis Canada

“Venous thromboembolism can have serious consequences, including long term effects that continue well beyond the initial event.
Yet many hospital associated blood clots are potentially preventable.
Effective prevention starts with recognizing risk and selecting an appropriate thromboprophylaxis strategy for the individual patient, whether pharmacological, mechanical or a combination of both.
As we approach World Thrombosis Day, we’re highlighting practical resources to help healthcare professionals translate evidence on VTE prevention into practice.
