Kristopher Jonas: Listening to Patients and Recognizing the Donors Who Make Treatment Possible

Kristopher Jonas, Chief Executive Officer/President at Proesis Biologics, shared Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association‘s post on LinkedIn:

“International Plasma Awareness Week starts Monday.

My suggestion for anyone in this industry: start by listening to a patient.

I’ve spent my career on the collection side of plasma. From that seat, it’s easy for the work to become liters collected, yield, and cost per liter. Those numbers matter. They are not the point; the point is someone like Matthew who lives with Von Willebrand disease. For Matt, treatment means peace of mind around everyday experiences and the ability to focus on living life.

Matthew also knows there is another story behind every treatment: the donors whose generosity makes these medicines possible.

That’s the part I’d underline. Donors are not a supply input. They are people making a real commitment of time and body, often twice a week, and they deserve to be treated that way every time they walk through the door.

Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Plasma-derived medicines can help patients move beyond the constant uncertainty that can accompany a bleeding disorder.

For Matthew Delaney, living with von Willebrand disease, treatment helps provide greater peace of mind around everyday experiences and the ability to focus on living life.

But Matt also knows that there is another story behind every treatment: the story of the plasma donors whose generosity makes these medicines possible.
