Andrés Felipe Escobar González: Individualized Treatment Strategies for HMB in BDUC
Andrés Felipe Escobar González, Pediatric Hematologist, Hemophilia Program at Medicarte, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Johanna Gebhart et al., published in Blood, adding:
“Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a significant clinical challenge in patients with bleeding disorders of unknown cause (BDUC), often affecting quality of life and leading to iron deficiency and anemia.
In ‘How I Treat Heavy Menstrual Bleeding in Patients with Bleeding Disorder of Unknown Cause,’ the authors highlight practical, individualized strategies to optimize bleeding control, restore iron stores, and improve patients’ quality of life.
An important reminder that the absence of a specific hemostatic diagnosis does not mean the absence of a clinically meaningful bleeding disorder—or the need for effective treatment.”
