Anubhav Joshi: Evans Syndrome in CLL A Differential Diagnosis to Remember
Anubhav Joshi, Chief Student at Brooklyn USCE/USMLE, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Evans syndrome—a possibility worth remembering in patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
When a patient with CLL develops anemia and thrombocytopenia, disease progression, marrow involvement, and treatment adverse effects often come to mind.
Another differential to consider is immune-mediated destruction of both red blood cells and platelets.
A useful reminder to pause and ask: What is driving this patient’s cytopenias?
The answer can change the approach to treatment.”
