Akshat Jain: Bridging Innovation and Access in Hematology at EHGCON 2026
Akshat Jain, Hematology Pediatric Workforce Task Force at American Society of Hematology, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“India: A Breath of Fresh Air in Kolkata
It was an absolute honor to deliver the Keynote Address at the Eastern Hematology Summit – EHGCON 2026.
The scientific discourse with India’s leading academicians and hematologists was outstanding — filled with passion, expertise, and a shared commitment to advancing care for patients with blood disorders and hematological malignancies.
Yet, as we celebrate these meaningful conversations, one reality continues to trouble me deeply:
Despite the presence of world-class expertise across the country, millions of patients in India still face unacceptable delays in accessing newer therapies. The future of these patients lies in the hands of dedicated clinicians who often have to ‘scrape the barrel’ to bridge the gap.
We must do better — faster diagnosis, equitable access, and stronger collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers are not just aspirations, but necessities.
Grateful to be part of this important movement & the new deep meaningful collaborations that were inked at this summit.”
