”Please welcome Carlos Villa, MD, PhD to VBRI!
Carlos Villa is joining the Translational Hematology Program as a Transfusion Medicine Clinician Investigator.
He joins Versiti from the US Food and Drug Administration where, most recently, he was the Associate Director for Special Programs in the Office of Blood Research and Review at CBER.
In that role, he contributed to regulatory, policy, and research initiatives to advance the safety and effectiveness of blood and blood components.
His clinical background is in Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine, and his research has spanned basic sciences to clinical medicine, with experience in pharmacology and drug delivery.
He completed his MD/PhD training at the Tri Institutional program at Weill Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering, which was followed by residency and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania.”
