Ekaterina Balaian: Exploring Fostamatinib Use in APS Patients with Thrombocytopenia
Ekaterina Balaian, Clinician Scientist at the University Hospital Dresden, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, adding:
”APS can be a real nightmare in clinical practice. And when it comes with thrombocytopenia, things get even trickier. Too often, we have to rely more on experience and discussion than on solid data regarding anticoagulation.
We gathered some experience in Germany using fostamatinib in APS patients with thrombocytopenia. Based on its proven efficacy in ITP and its potentially favorable profile regarding thrombosis, we explored whether it might help in this particularly challenging setting.
Please, feel free to read about our experience in fresh-out-of-press paper.
A big thank you to all my co-authors for the teamwork, critical thinking, and many thoughtful discussions along the way!”
