Gareth Owens: Preventing Aortic Dissection Through Post-Mortem Genetics Testing
Gareth Owens, Vice President Program Management at Finastra, shared Heather MacLeod’s post on LinkedIn, adding:
“The US National Association of Medical Examiners is leading the way by formally recommending post-mortem genetic testing in patients who die of Aortic Dissection.
This picks up familial risk and can prevent dissections in other family members.
The UK needs to follow suit. How can we make this happen?”
Heather MacLeod, Cardiovascular Genetics Consultant at Heart Rhythm Society Annual Meeting Planning Committee for Allied Professionals, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored:
“I am excited to share this important new work from the National Association of Medical Examiners implementing diagnostic genetic testing in Medical Examiner and Coroner Offices.
Please read and share the NAME Position Paper on Postmortem Genetic Testing in Forensic Pathology Cases!”
