J. Meireles-Brandao: Lp(a)HORIZON and the Role of Inflammation in ASCVD
J. Meireles-Brandao, SEDES – Association for Economic and Social Development at Associado, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Lp(a), LDLc, MACE, ASCVD, Lp(a)HORIZON
We can try to speculate on the various reasons, even the most basic ones, but the study failed in its primary endpoint.
The inflammatory process inherent in atherosclerosis, and consequently in MACE, was not sufficiently valued.
It is probably not indicated for such advanced stages of ASCVD.
It’s likely that the ‘step was bigger than the leg,’ and the crucial importance of inflammation in causing atherosclerosis and consequently MACE wasn’t sufficiently appreciated.
Let’s wait and see what the near future holds.”
