Lara Bloom: Building a Global Community to Transform Ehlers-Danlos Care
Lara Bloom, President and CEO at The Ehlers-Danlos Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“There is something incredibly special about bringing together people who truly understand one another.
Over the past few days, more than 1,300 people from 36 countries came together for The Ehlers-Danlos Society Global Learning Conference. We listened. We learned. We challenged ideas. We co-created solutions. We shared stories that reminded us why this work matters so deeply.
What always amazes me is that alongside the science, education and collaboration, something equally important happens. Strangers become friends. People who have spent years feeling isolated realise they have found their community.
Conversations started over coffee become collaborations that can shape the future.
This year also gave us the chance to reflect on how far we’ve come. As we celebrate ten years of The Ehlers-Danlos Society, I couldn’t be prouder of what this global community has built together.
From patients and families to clinicians, researchers, industry partners and advocates, every person has helped move us closer to better understanding, better care and, ultimately, better lives.
And while it’s important to pause and celebrate, I’m even more excited about what’s next.
The next ten years won’t simply be about doing more. They’ll be about accelerating diagnosis, transforming care, advancing research and bringing effective treatments closer to reality.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, whether in Dallas or virtually from around the world. You made this conference what it was, and I already can’t wait to see where we go together next.”
