Louise St. Germain Bannon: A Call to Advance Health Equity for Women on World Health Day
Louise St. Germain Bannon, Director of Membership, Marketing and External Relations of ISTH, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Today, on World Health Day, I’m reflecting on the critical importance of advancing equitable, accessible care for all and the role we each play in making that a reality.
At the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), our mission is grounded in improving outcomes for patients affected by thrombosis and bleeding disorders around the world.
This commitment is central to our recently launched Global Public Affairs Agenda, which prioritizes areas where we can drive meaningful, measurable impact.
One area that demands urgent attention is women’s health. Bleeding and clotting disorders in women remain under-recognized, underdiagnosed, and too often overlooked in health systems globally.
From heavy menstrual bleeding to pregnancy-related thrombosis risks, the gaps in awareness, research, and care are significant and they are preventable.
Through our global efforts, partnerships and advocacy, we are working to elevate this issue, support education and policy change, and ensure women receive the care they need across every stage of life.
On this World Health Day, I encourage all of us to continue pushing for progress, because better awareness leads to better care, and better care saves lives.”
