M. Joseph John: Rebalancing Agents in Haemophilia at NHU 2026
M. Joseph John, Professor and Head of Department of Clinical Haematology, Associate Director at Christian Medical College Ludhiana, shared on LinkedIn:
“I had the privilege of speaking at NHU 2026 in Bengaluru on:
‘Rebalancing Agents in Haemophilia – Similarities, Differences and How to Choose?’
I was delighted by the interest and appreciation the session received. As several colleagues and participants requested a copy of the presentation, I thought it would be helpful to share it here for wider academic and clinical discussion.
The presentation covers:
- The place of rebalancing agents in the evolving haemophilia treatment landscape
- Their mechanisms of action and key differences
- Evidence from pivotal clinical trials
- Comparative efficacy and safety considerations
- Laboratory monitoring requirements
- Switching, surgery and other special clinical situations
- A practical, patient-centred approach to selecting an appropriate agent
The central message is that treatment selection should not be based simply on the lowest published annualized bleeding rate. The right choice is the one that achieves near-zero spontaneous bleeding, protects joint health, is safe for the individual patient, and can be delivered reliably by both the patient and the haemophilia treatment centre.
I hope this presentation will be useful to colleagues involved in haemophilia care. I would be glad to hear your perspectives and experiences with these evolving therapies.”
