Maaike Wisse Honoured with Arthur Fonville Award
Maaike Wisse, Research Assistant Mind the Heart at Amsterdam UMC, reposted from Amsterdam UMC on LinkedIn:
”Today I had the honour of receiving the Arthur Fonville Award for my work titled “Predicting Reduced Ejection Fraction in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Prediction Model from the Mind the Heart Study”.
A special thanks to the family of Arthur Fonville, the RUSH team from the University of Edinburgh, and the Amsterdam UMC Foundation for continuing to inspire stroke research.
I would also like to thank my supervisors, Chiel Beemsterboer and Leon Rinkel, for their guidance and support throughout this journey.
I look forward to continuing this research and, hopefully, seeing it published.”
Quoting Amsterdam UMC‘s post:
”This morning, the Arthur Fonville Awards were presented to two talented young researchers in the field of vascular neurology: Jonelle Marasigan and Maaike Wisse.
At the same time, the Arthur Fonville Fund (in memory of medical student Arthur Fonville) was officially welcomed as a new Named Fund at the Amsterdam UMC Foundation.
“The award gives young researchers recognition, boosts their confidence, and opens doors to research institutions.
The fact that the award bears Arthur’s name fills us with pride and makes his loss a little easier to bear.” — Catherine and Joost Fonville, Arthur’s parents
Bernie Hermes of the Amsterdam UMC Foundation: “The Fonville family has turned their loss into something positive: Arthur’s name is linked to a source of inspiration and support for young researchers.”
