Maia Meier: Reaching New Heights for Women With Inherited Bleeding Disorders

Maia Meier, Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Maia Letitia Fitness, shared on LinkedIn:

”In a week, I’ll be leaving for Nepal.

Over the next month, Manaslu will become my home.

At 8,163 metres, it will be my first 8,000-metre mountain. A place where patience matters, summit day begins before midnight, and every step becomes more demanding as the air gets thinner.

For this expedition, I’ll be using supplemental oxygen above Camp 3, along with months of preparation that you’ve been following over the past several weeks, from the altitude tent to ladder training, and soon, even the layers I’ll wear on summit day.

But this climb is about more than reaching the top.

Through Project Elevate Her, Manaslu is also a platform to raise awareness for women and girls living with inherited bleeding disorders, to share their stories, and to continue advocating for earlier diagnosis and equitable access to care around the world.

This is where the preparation becomes reality.

Next stop…
Manaslu.”
