Mansi Kala: Key Takeaways from NHU 2026 in Haemostasis and Laboratory Practice

“Pleased to have attended the 15th National Haemostasis Update (NHU 2026) in Bengaluru.
This marks my third consecutive year at NHU, and each year I return with new insights that can be translated into better patient care and laboratory practice.
Some of the key takeaways this year were:
- Practical strategies to improve inhibitor screening and Bethesda assays in a more cost-effective and standardized manner.
- Updates on the rapidly evolving treatment landscape for hemophilia patients with inhibitors, including newer non-factor therapies and the laboratory challenges associated with monitoring these agents.
- Advances in the molecular diagnosis of hemophilia, with discussions on how NGS can be implemented more efficiently by prioritizing commonly affected exons, making genetic testing more practical and affordable.
Conferences like NHU are a reminder that continuous learning is essential in laboratory hematology. Every edition adds something valuable—whether it’s a new diagnostic approach, better quality practices, or improved patient management.
Looking forward to implementing these learnings at the Department of Pathology, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, and continuing to contribute to advancing haemostasis diagnostics.”
