Maxime Dely: My Little Sister, a Huge Heart: 14 Years Giving Blood and Now Plasma
Maxime Dely, Sales and Application Specialist in Therapeutic Apheresis and Cell Therapy, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My little sister, a huge heart: 14 years giving blood and now plasma
In life, some gestures seem simple, but their impact can be immense. My little sister, three years younger than me, is a perfect example. She has always inspired me with her ability to give without expecting anything in return.
“I’m O-, she explains. A rare blood type, so I give all I can. Being in good health, I try to give a little of myself regularly for 14 years, first my blood, and for the past few years, my plasma.” Her first donation was back in college, when a friend convinced her despite her fear of needles. Today, those friendships remain, as does her motivation.
Each donation represents for her a chance to transform lives.
“If I were in need, I would hope others would do the same for me… give to help extend my life. And it costs nothing—just a few minutes out of your day.”
Beyond the act itself, donating reinforces her sense of solidarity and helping others.
“This hasn’t changed the way I see things, because I’ve always thought of others before myself. I love giving, passing it on. At the end of each donation, I feel a deep satisfaction. I even try to take my daughters so they can understand the importance of this gesture, even if they’re still little.”
Through this simple act, my sister reminds us that generosity knows no age and that a small gesture can have an immense impact. She is, for me, a real-life example of altruism that transforms everyday life.”
