“Before CAR T, there is the collection.
CAR T cell therapy begins well before the genetic modification of T cells: it starts with eukapheresis, which collects the patient’s mononuclear cells, including the T lymphocytes that will be used to manufacture the cellular product.
This first step is critical: cell composition, viability and collection quality can influence the subsequent manufacturing process.
Apheresis technology is essential, but it is not enough. Successful collection also relies on the expertise, experience and vigilance of nurses, who adapt the procedure to each patient.
Before manufacturing CAR T cells, we first need to successfully collect them.”
