Pedro Perez: World Thrombosis Day 2026 – Raising Awareness of Women’s VTE Risk

Pedro Perez, , Southeast Vascular Sales Manager at Argon Medical Devices, Inc., shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Blood clot awareness is not just about recognizing DVT and PE—it’s about recognizing when risk changes.

With World Thrombosis Day approaching on October 13, the 2026 campaign is putting an important spotlight on women’s health and VTE risk across the lifespan.

Pregnancy and the postpartum period, hormonal contraception and hormone therapies, thrombophilia, and certain reproductive health conditions can all influence thrombotic risk.

The key message for clinicians and patients is simple: VTE risk is dynamic—not static—and awareness should evolve with the patient.

We continue to make remarkable advances in anticoagulation, thrombectomy, PE response systems, and venous intervention.

But one of our most powerful tools remains the simplest: education that leads to earlier recognition, prevention, and treatment.

As World Thrombosis Day approaches, what can we do as a healthcare community to make recognizing the signs and risk factors of DVT and PE as familiar to patients as recognizing the signs of stroke or heart attack?

Learn more.”
