Poppy Clarke: Turning Steps Into Support for Thrombosis Awareness
Poppy Clarke, Sustainability Executive at FuturePlus, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“3.36 million steps later across the team and that’s a wrap on STEPtember.
To put that into perspective, collectively we walked around 2,500 km… basically enough to get us from London to Morocco!!
You might have seen that we at FuturePlus recently took part in our own STEPtember challenge, basically giving us all a bit of extra motivation to get outside, walk more, and make the most of the last of the nice weather!
As part of the challenge, we also decided that one of the prizes would be a donation to a charity of the winner’s choice.
Somehow I managed to come out on top (apparently I walk a lot ), therefore I was able to choose a charity dear to my heart, and I’m so pleased that my chosen charity is Thrombosis UK, registered charity.
It’s a charity that sits very close to my heart and does some really amazing work supporting people affected by thrombosis, including DVT and pulmonary embolism (PE), as well as their families and loved ones.
They also do so much around raising awareness and education, funding vital research, and helping to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of thrombosis – all incredibly important work that deserves to be spoken about more.
So, whilst my 603,000 steps were slightly excessive (!!), I’m very happy they’ve also given me the chance to shout about a charity that means a lot to me and the brilliant work they do.”
