Siddharth Mittal: Transfusion Medicine as the Gateway to Cell and Gene Therapy
Siddharth Mittal, Assistant Professor at Aiims Jodhpur, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I can’t emphasise this enough.
Transfusion medicine is increasingly the gateway into cellular and gene therapy, and the field is advancing fast – much of the cutting-edge science, regulatory thinking, and manufacturing work is happening internationally.
If you get the chance to immerse yourself in that environment, take it.
Seek out these opportunities, apply for the grants, make the case to your institutions.
The investment pays back many times over.
On that note, I feel fortunate to have been selected for an ESACT Academia Grant last year to attend the 5th edition of the ESACT Bioprocessing and Manufacturing of Gene and Cell Therapy Products Course in Llafranc, Spain.
It was an educational course – 30 hours of lectures and case analysis with an outstanding faculty – that set a strong conceptual base in gene and cell therapy bioprocessing.
For anyone building their foundation here, I’d recommend it without hesitation.
My thanks to the course coordinators and the ESACT team.
To those early in their careers: keep an eye out for programmes like this one.”
