Simon Zhao: Patient Community Promise 2025 Takes the Golden Snail Award at 14th China Rare Disease Summit
Simon Zhao, Public Affairs and Policy Lead, Genmed and Specialty Care at Sanofi, shared on LinkedIn:
”Three years ago, Sanofi committed to transforming how we engage with patient communities across the full drug lifecycle.
Today, this commitment is increasingly reflected in how we work every day — from clinical development to post-launch strategy.
Our 2025 Patient Community Promise Report highlights this progress:
- 20 plus local impact stories across 11 plus disease areas
- 15 plus engagement metrics across 7 core functions
- 100% of clinical studies informed by patient input
- 85% positive feedback from patient organizations
More importantly, this represents a real shift in mindset: patients are not just recipients of innovation, but true partners in shaping it.
In China, I am grateful to have worked alongside patients and advocates through our global Patient Council ‘Co-Lab‘ to co-create a hemophilia patient journey framework.
Together with the Chinese Organization for Rare Disorders, this was adapted to better reflect lived experience beyond clinical milestones — capturing the full emotional and social reality of care.
This initiative was recognized at the 14th China Rare Disease Summit, receiving the Golden Snail Award for advancing rare disease awareness.
Proud and grateful to be part of Sanofi, and even more grateful to our patient partners for trusting us to co-create this journey together.”
