“World Apheresis Awareness Day 2026 | AIIMS Nagpur
It was a pleasure to celebrate World Apheresis Awareness Day 2026 at the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre, AIIMS Nagpur, with a CME-cum-Hands-on Workshop on ‘Basics of Apheresis: Principles, Practice and Clinical Applications.’
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 42 delegates actively participating in the hands-on workshop, providing practical exposure to the principles and techniques of therapeutic apheresis and cell collection.
The multidisciplinary Clinical Meet brought together colleagues from General Medicine, Pediatrics, Medical Gastroenterology, Clinical Hematology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Transfusion Medicine, facilitating meaningful discussions on the clinical applications of apheresis, patient selection, and integration of therapeutic apheresis into routine patient care.
The program was enriched by expert sessions from Gopal Patidar, AIIMS New Delhi, and Dr Deep M., Tata Memorial Centre–ACTREC, along with active participation from faculty, residents, nursing and technical teams.
From establishing our apheresis services at AIIMS Nagpur in 2022 to steadily expanding into therapeutic plasma exchange, red cell exchange, stem-cell collection, granulocyte collection, leukapheresis and plateletpheresis, the journey has been one of continuous learning, teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
A heartfelt thank you to our institutional leadership, invited faculty, moderators, clinical colleagues, organizing team and every participant who made the program academically enriching and interactive.
